Ongoing volunteer position. Volunteer needed to provide welcoming experience to Lantern Center guests. Your role will be to facilitate the daily operations of the Lantern Center. 

Potential duties include:

watching child play area completing light cleaning duties (sweeping, vacuuming, wiping tables or white boards) light "other duties as assigned", with training (e.g., make copies, make coffee/tea/put out snacks, sharpening pencils, & possibly running errands occasionally - such as hanging up flyers at churches & schools, picking up office supplies or teatime treats for Lantern birthday/citizenship students using Lantern Center money, etc.) general tasks to help create a welcoming environment

Professional duties tailored to intern's interests. 

Interns will, utilizing training the Lantern Center provides, & sessions where they can "shadow" (watch) current tutoring pairs to learn tutoring strategies, will eventually be asked to serve in areas they are comfortable doing, and which they have the skills to complete, serving in roles such as:

Ongoing tutors needed. Two-hour sessions, one time a week. Tutors will be paired with a single student with whom they will work on English and potentially U.S. citizenship test preparation. 

Tutors will be trained at the Lantern Center; prior education experience is not required. 

Sessions will take place within Lantern Center operating hours: 10-3 M/W/F and 1-7 T/Th. Specific time slots will be decided based on the mutual availability of student and tutor.
