We're having a "Mulching Party" on the Bee Branch (from Garfield to 24th St) on Saturday, July 17. The trees will celebrate having new, beautiful mulch to help save moisture, keep weeds down and keep them safe from mowers and weed whips. We will provide training to all volunteers to make sure we HELP the trees and don’t HURT them.
For this group, we need about 25 people to work in teams of 2-3 people to carefully spread the mulch around the trees. Another group will work ahead of you to deliver mulch to the trees in this section of the Bee Branch. We will train you to properly mulch each tree. (Only 2-3 inches deep, not touching truck of tree, NO mulch volcanoes!) We will have training before you begin. We are starting early (8:30am) so we can get ahead of the summer heat.
Please wear gloves and sunscreen. Bring a large rake and/or hand rake. Be sure to mark them with your name. If you want, bring a kneeling pad so you can kneel more comfortably and cleanly. (Contact us at dubuquetreesforever@yahoo.com with questions.) Wear clothes that can get dirty!
Meet at the 22 St parking area at 8:30 am. We will provide training before we begin to make sure things are done properly and consistently.
If you haven't signed our waiver yet this year, see attached waiver.. You can either sign and send to dubuquetreesforever@yahoo.com or sign and bring to the event.
